UTC Fletcher Hall
This award winning project was completed in 1998. Originally the City Public Library, this century old building had to be completely renovated and modernized for it’s new role as the UTC School of Business Administration. A new addition connected the building to the University campus and integrated it into the historic system of walks and courtyards.
The existing building had to be structurally stabilized and outfitted with new life safety features without compromising the rich historic detailing. The interior had to be adapted to suit the building’s new role as an environment for learning, and modern technological systems had to be integrated within the rich moldings and trim.
The addition was designed to marry seamlessly with the original structure and today it is difficult to tell exactly where the old and new meet. In Fletcher Hall, modern technology and historic architecture are blended to create a building that is perfectly suited to it’s purpose as a modern teaching facility and role as an important piece of civic architecture.
