Sunset Drive Residence
In the spring of 1990, Phil Whitfield broke ground for his new home on the side of Signal Mountain. Completed seven months later, the home features a 3-story interior atrium which faces the City. In plan, the simple triangular box provides porches at the angle points for various views on multiple levels. The open concept encourages interaction between levels, with the master suite on the top floor, children’s area on the lower levels with kitchen, dining, and living spaces in between. With the southeast wall of glass facing an acre of woodland, the interior truly experiences the beauty and constant changing of the seasons.
