Oral & Maxiofacial Surgery
The Center for Oral and Maxiofacial Surgery was completed in 1998. The center, located near Highway 153 on Shallowford Road, provides offices for four oral surgeons and a State-approved surgery suite. The facility includes 16 exam rooms as well as recovery area. The main concept of the plan was controlling patient flow, with waiting and recovery designed with minimal interaction.
The primary architectural feature of this building is the sweeping curved front facade of beige brick which faces the intersection of Shallowford Road and Stein Drive. The other exterior walls are a combination of red and beige brick banded in alternating patterns. All exam rooms have windows and the clerestory lights in the corridors serving the exam areas further enhance the bright and inviting clinical areas. A covered drive-thru at the rear of the building in close proximity to the recovery areas allows easy pickup of patients still under some medication.
